PJ Family's 2009: 2nd Trip, Janda Baik

Yes, we just had our 2nd family trip with Dadda's family and this time we travelled to a place called Janda Baik (it means Good Divorcee).

This time around, it was only a day trip. We started early, around 7.30am and reached there at around 9am. As usual, I was a bit grumpy to wake up that early and I actually slept the whole trip. But once we arrived and I've warmed up, I was sooooo excited!

The place was so beautiful! It had a gazebo where we left our stuff and had our meals and there was a stream beside it. There were also animals like chickens, fish and even 2 lovely horses!

Auuummmcaakk! Having breakfast & goofing around!

We had breakfast once we arrived and after that, we started our games.

Let's start the 1st game already!!

The 1st game was Aunty Alma's guessing game which we won, the 2nd was Tia's blow and pop your balloon game which we also won! The 3rd game was a game by AyahDe called Zap, Zap Teng and Ayah Ngah won it while Mommy got 2nd place. After that it was our game. There were 2 teams and each teams had to divide themselves so that some had to guard their balloons while the others try to steal the opponents' balloons. It ended with a tie.

Counting the sweets for the 1st game!

Pouring the water in the bottle. Iky & Faiez..

After that, we played Ayah Ngah's game where Mommy had to carry a cup of water on her head and run across in flippers to give it to Dadda and he had to pour the water into a bottle. We didn't win that game. But we set the bar high where Auntie Alma & Uncle Farly could emulate & won the game!

Then Mama invented a game for all the kids, me included! Dadda had to fill up water in a cup and give it to me. I then will take the cup filled with water to Mommy and she will pour into a bottle. As usual, I was already tired by then and everybody knows that I don't quite like walking on grass and sand. So I did it reluctanly (crying all the way...) and protested by pouring the water on the ground in the middle of my run to Mommy! (hehe...)

Mommy's already wet.. I'm tired...

Everyone else still playing, while...

I'm having my early lunch... already exhausted! :)

The last game was Papa and Mama's. It was a traditional game called Stick Mata where one had to hit a stick so it goes up in the air and while it's up, hit it as far as they can. Dadda was on fire during this game and our team won again. Basically, we were the overall champion of the whole game! Hehe!

We are the CHAMPIONS!!

After all the games have been played, we stopped for lunch and Mommy, Dadda and the rest jumped into the stream. Dadda took me in at one point but I screamed because the water was SO cold and MOVING! (sooo unlike the swimming pool! sigh...)

With Papa at the really cold but nice river stream!

Dadda, I'm a CELEBRITY, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!

After everyone had taken their shower and prayed, we took last snaps of photos and headed down back to each other's houses.

Are you talking to me?? (goofing around in the pick up truck!)

Look at the 2 lovely horsies!! Yup, I'm scared of them too!

Che Ah and Kak Miza came back with us so we stopped by at PJ to send them back. But Dadda was so tired and sleepy that he took a nap once we reached PJ. That night, we went out for dinner with the rest and finally went back to our place at around 10pm.

It was exhausting but truly a fun day for all of us!

What a day!! But it was AWESOME FUN!!

Have a good Awal Muharram weekend everybody!

This Is It... My First Trip To The Cinema

This post is long overdue! Sorry!

Auww!! Yep... you read it right..! I had my first experience of being inside a cinema a couple of weeks ago watching none other than the much anticipated This Is It.

Going into the cinema! Woohoo!

Of course, the experience was very new to me so in the beginning I panicked because it was dark and the screen was huge! When MJ started singing it felt like he was right there, very near to us. The music and his voice came from everywhere around me. After awhile, I calmed down and watched it while I snuggled in Tok Mama's arms. Somehow, watching MJ sing and dance had somewhat a calming effect on me that I fell asleep right in the middle of it! I woke up later during the show and managed to catch the last half an hour of the show, hehehe...

Yeay!! I made it! My first movie!

When we came out, everyone said that I was very well-behaved and were surprised because I didn't cry or make any noise. I'm glad Mommy and Dadda were brave enough to let me experience it.

Like MJ said, 'It's all in the name of LOVE'... Check out the lovely trailer!

My 2nd Eid

We just celebrated Eid on the 20th of September, 2009. It was my 2nd Eid-ul-Fitri. This year, we celebrated Eid with Dadda's family in PJ first. We went to Papa and Mama's house in PJ on Friday, 2 days before Eid. At night, on the eve of Eid, we played fireworks with everyone. It was quite exciting, although I was a little afraid of the fire coming out of the 'stick'.

Mommy, I'm scared!! MOM!

AyahDe's very creative RAYA rendition using the bunga api!

On the morning of Eid, Dadda woke up early to go to the mosque for Eid prayers while Mommy and I woke up later and got ready. After prayers we had breakfast together. Mama (Dadda's mommy) made a special dish called Nasi Dagang. After breakfast, we gathered to take photos and exchanged money packets! Yes, us kids get lots and lots of money packets given by adult relatives and friends, he... he... something I look forward to everytime we go visit someone during Eid month.

The GREEN couple!

7 of us, cucu-cucu Papa & Mama!

With my lovely Mommy!

Jumping with JOY!

We then went back to Tok Mama's kampung in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan later in the afternoon on the 1st day. There we met with more relatives and I received more money packets! We drove to Muar, Johore on the 2nd day of Eid to visit Aunty Huda and her family and then headed back to Subang Jaya that night. On the 3rd day, Papa and Mama came to Subang along with the rest of the PJ clan.

Mammam with Tok Abah!

In Muor, with Auntie Ude's family

On the 4th day, we had to drive all the way to Kelantan (I'm not sure where it is but we took ages to get there and come back!). We were there for a wedding of Dadda's cousin. On the way back from Kelantan, we stopped over at Tia's house in Kuantan. Dadda, Mommy and I fell sick after our hectic schedules so we spent our last few days of the week resting at home.

I had a week of Eid holiday and I was back to school the week after. Recently, we had Eid celebration at school and everyone had to turn up in our traditional clothings. Naturally, I turned up in Baju Kurung. We had fun and ate lots of food. Mommy and Dadda came late so they didn't get to see all of us in our special clothes.

I can't tell you about every single thing that had happened during the Eid month because if I do, this post will go on and on and it will never stop. So, I'll just post pictures for you to see, ok? To sum it all up, I was soooo busy in the whole month of Syawal.

Looking forward to more hectic Syawals in the years to come...

My Bump

What you gonna do with all that ice?
All that ice, what's your advice?
I'ma get, get, get, get, some rice,
Get you both hands off my bump.
My bump, my bump, my bump, my bump, my bump,
My bump, my bump, my bump, my lovely baby bump (Check it out)

I drive my teachers crazy,
I do it on the daily,
They treat me really nicely,
They give me all these ices.
Chicken, beef and porridge,
McDs and Enfagrows,
Pasta, they be sharin'
All their efforts got me eatin', aye,
Mommy, I ain't askin,
They say they want my lovin',
Hugs and kiss, read and playin'
I say no, but they keep givin'
So I keep on takin'
And no I ain't taken
We can keep on learnin'
I keep on demonstrating.

My Bump (hurts!), My Bump, My Bump, My Bump (hurts!)
I hate my baby bump (hurts!),
My bump, my bump, my bump (hurts!),
My bump, they got you.

(Sing these lyrics to this song!)

Celebrating Ramadhan at School

So finally, after much anticipation, I'm being sent to school...

This is my school, the Children Islamic Centre in Kota Damansara!

We have a huge playgroud outside where we play in the evening!

Yes, I've actually started school since the beginning of August. Although I'm still in the period of adjusting, I have made some friends and get along very well with them, especially the older ones. My teachers and some of the kakaks adore me. I'm particularly close to 2 older girls whom I call kakak. They are sisters and their names are Misha and Melissa.

Among my teachers, I'm attached to 'Teacher Fatima' although I don't mind 'Teacher Murni' taking care of me once in a while. The headteacher's name is 'Teacher Zana' (that's how we call the teachers there, 'Teacher', followed by their names) and she takes care of the older kids upstairs. She is the one Mommy pays the school fees to, monthly.

Me with Teacher Murni.. Yes, I cry with happiness everytime Dadda comes to pick me up! :)

It was difficult for Dadda and Mommy to leave me in the beginning but I'm really getting used to it now. I no longer scream my heart out everytime I see the teacher coming out to get me from the car!

Anyway, the month of Ramadhan has just started about a week ago. We had a kenduri at school to welcome the month of Ramadhan where we had a guest who came over and talked a bit about fasting. Before we went home, everyone received a goodie bag each which contained chocolates and dates, yummy! I don't really understand what fasting means but so far, I think it's when Mommy, Dadda and my teachers don't eat and drink from morning until we hear the Azan for Maghrib prayers. Nobody refrained me from eating during those times so life to me goes on as normal.

One day last week, Dadda received a call from 'Teacher Murni' informing him that I've taken a fall and have a big bump on my forehead. I did not cry but the looks on my teachers' faces told me that my bump was bad. They tried a lot of things to make it better including putting ice packs on the bump. Seeing that I was fine and didn't complain about the pain at all, they were relieved.

Going home after a fun day @ school to break fast with Mommy & Dadda!
Bye-Bye School...

So, that was really how I welcomed the month of Ramadhan... with a bump on my forehead...

Till my next post...

August birthday celebrations & Salam Ramadan!

Every year in August, we celebrate birthdays of Pak Su (10th), Tok Abah (15th) and Mommy (17th). This year, Tok Abah's birthday fell on a Saturday. Hence, the big celebration dinner was held on that particular Saturday night.

Everytime there's a celebration dinner, we will decide on where to go. Sometimes it can be somewhere new and sometimes places that we've been to and like. This time we decided to have dinner at the PJ Hilton hotel. It was my first time there though everyone else have been there for quite a number of times before. There were supposed to be 10 of us; myself, Mommy, Dadda, Tok Abah, Tok Mama, Pak Su, Aunty Huda, Mak Lel, Aunty Ina and Aunty Min but Mak Lel and Aunty Min couldn't make it at the very last minute. We had a buffet dinner and there were quite a variety of food!

Enjoying my meals with Mommy & Dadda..

Everyone obviously enjoyed the food and had a really good time. We talked and laughed and made jokes and towards the end, presented Tok Abah with his birthday gift which Mommy and Tok Mama had bought earlier during the day. We all shared (at least the adults did...) and bought Tok Abah a new phone. Mommy said Tok Abah had a really old phone which was a classic and had existed since the middle ages (I don't know when that was!). So, now, Tok Abah has a brand new advanced handphone which he can carry everywhere and not hide behind a door whenever he answers the phone.

Tok Abah getting his birthday present from me!

I was actually just recovering from viral fever so my appetite wasn't as good as always, although I did eat bits of pieces of whatever Mommy took for me. Besides that and a baby who couldn't stop crying at a table behind us which made me very uneasy, we had a blast! Pak Su got new garments from top to bottom from everyone.

One for the album!

On Sunday, we spent sometime with Mama and Papa, together with Tok Abah and Tok Mama at a hi-tea event where I had more good food! Before we headed home that night, Aunty Huda and Mak Lel gave Mommy her birthday present. They gave Mommy a new bag which she really loved and on midnight, at home, Dadda gave Mommy a present too! It was also a new phone but a different one from Tok Abah's, of course. Mommy was delighted to see the new phone that she's been eyeing on for quite sometime. We wished Mommy Happy Birthday and gave her hugs before we went off to bed.

On Monday, Mommy's birthday, she had to go to office very early in the morning. I didn't get to see her when she left but she and Dadda came back earlier than usual and we went to Subang Jaya for a swim with Tok Abah, Tok Mama and Pak Su. After that, Tok Abah treated us to a nice dinner at the restaurant we went on Mother's Day and Aunty Huda joined us.
Check out the full pictures of the awesome birthday bash we had below!

August B'Day Bash

So, to sum it all up, last weekend was a wonderful weekend filled with celebrations, presents and food!

I guess the adults are preparing for the fasting period that will start this Saturday... hehe...

Selamat Berpuasa Ramadhan Al-Mubarrak!!

The Passing of Nek Tok

'Truly we belong to Allah, and truly to Allah shall we return'

On the morning of July 28th, 2009, at approximately 5.51am, Nek Tok, Allahyarham Haji Kassim bin Sifat, Tok Mama's father passed away in his sleep after being in the hospital for a little more than a month. We were asleep when Tok Mama called Dadda to inform us of the news.

Mommy and Dadda immediately got ready, woke me up and bathed me and headed back to Tok Mama's hometown where Nek Tok's body was to be laid to rest that afternoon itself. Many people who knew Nek Tok from all over came to pay their last respects. Nek Tok was buried after the Zohor prayers, at around 2pm. Everything, alhamdulillah, went smoothly.

We held 'tahlil' for 3 days in a row where we recited quran verses and duas. Neighbours and family members attended the 'tahlil' and many expressed their condolences especially to Nek Wan, Tok Mama's mother.

We were forbidden to mourn for more than three days for a dead person, except for a husband, for whom a wife should mourn for four months and ten days (while in the mourning period) we were not allowed to put kohl in our eyes, nor perfume ourselves, nor wear dyed clothes, except a garment of 'Asb (special clothes made in Yemen). But it was permissible for us that when one of us became clean from her menses and took a bath, she could use a piece of a certain kind of incense. And it was forbidden for us to follow funeral processions.

Hadith - Bukhari 7:254, Narrated Um 'Atiyya

Nek Tok's The Last Supper with Nek Wan, Tok Mama & Mama Rina's family..

I'm thankful that Nek Tok had the chance to see me. I probably won't have memories of Nek Tok with me when I'm older but at least Mommy, Dadda, Tok Mama and the rest of the family do.

Possibily my final picture with Nek Tok during Mak Lang Nur's wedding

Plus, there are photos to remind me of him.

May his soul rest in peace. Al-Fatihah.

Mam-mam...

Eating, an act done by all kinds of beings in order to give nourishments to the body to keep on living. An act which to me is known as 'Mam-mam'. Some people eat to live while some live to eat. Either way, it's a well established fact that food is something that no one can live without.

Getting ready for my favourite activity!!

In my case, 'Mam-mam' is an activity I look forward to every single day. If I were to answer questions about myself, 'mam-mam' will be the answer to 'what's my favourite pastime' question. I hear mothers telling Mommy how their children have trouble eating and I wonder why. Since Mommy introduced me to solids, I can't remember anything in particular that I didn't like. I opened my mouth to any kinds of food Mommy fed and I will go to anyone while their eating and see if I can get a taste of their food.

My 1st taste of solid food, 3 months old!

Enjoying the solid taste of porridge specially made by Mommy - 6 months old

Yeaaayyyy, pancakes & mash potatoes, another one of my favourites!!

But don't get me wrong. Although I eat everything, of course, there are favourites. Food that I love most and the ones I like less. Carbo-wise, I eat anything from bread, rice to pasta and noodles but between all those, I'd prefer pasta and noodles. I also favour sweets less and that's why Mommy seldom gave me cookies, cakes and muffins. My favourite fruits so far, are strawberries and watermelons. Although Mommy prefer cherries to strawberries, I have yet to try cherries. Maybe someday I'll try them and see which ones I like most. Apart from that, there are no vegetables that I dislike and I eat fish, beef and chicken.

My 1st taste of strawberry... Tangy!

Hmmmm, Big Fish & Chips!! Loving it...!

So, there will be no problem in eating when taking me out as I can just about eat anything and anywhere and taking me to food buffets would be just lovely. I'll try and make it worth every penny spent.

And no doubt about it, there are countless numbers of photos of me doing just my thing - 'Mam-mam'.
